Li’l Sis Goat Milk Soap at Östgötadagarna at Hejtorp Gårdsmejeri

What a wonderful weekend Li’l Sis Goat Milk Soap had at Hejtorp Gårdsmejeri. Östgötadagarna are two days that the products of local farms and handicrafts are presented and celebrated in Östergotland, Sweden.

This beautiful farm was open to the public for two days of fun, nature and education. Hejtorp Gårdsmejeri is known for it wonderful handmade cheeses that can be purchased in their farm shop. Many well known restaurants in Stockholm have purchased these delicious cheeses. Hejtorp cheeses are used by many chefs in the Stockholm area,  including chefs that have cooked for the Nobel dinner in Stockholm. It would be so special to have Hejtorp cheeses featured at the Nobel dinner. You never know what the future may hold. Fingers crossed-

I was very delighted to be invited to present and sell my Eco-Friendly Li’l Sis Goat Milk Soap at this lovely event. As we arrived early Saturday morning we were informed as to where to set up our tables. What a delightful location; between a lovely garden center selling farm fresh veggies and beautiful blooms and plants on one side and our favorite animal besides goats, alpaca. We watched as they unloaded them from the trailer and placed them in their pen for the weekend. They were wonderful neighbors, both to look at and listen to as the hummed the days away.

Collies at Hejtorp help round up the sheep and goats on the vast acreage on the farm. We were given a wonderful display of just how hard these dogs work and perform for the farm.

The Garden Center next to us provided wonderful farm fresh produce and we went home with a basket of fresh strawberries and freshly salted cucumbers. Yummy!

There was delicious food provided by a well known meat company (sorry don’t have the name) and there was food also provided by Hejtorp Gårdsmejeri. All was delicious and the visitors enjoyed their meals at tables that were provided for them.

There was a beautiful vintage tractor on display as well as a fantastic engine that was from 1940’s USA.

And of course there was Eco-Friendly Li’l Sis Goat Milk Soap. It was wonderful to introduce my product to new people and I was so happy to see so many Environmentally aware customers. Our dog Max was with us as usual as an ambassador for our Li’l Sis Pet Goat Milk Soap. He greeted guests with his little happy face. Our customers left our tables with a lovely bar of Eco-Friendly goat milk soap and a smile. It was a successful weekend for Li’l Sis with customer sales and client sales. Kristina, the owner of Hejtorp Gårdsmejeri placed another order for her farm shop.

We met so many nice and interesting people through our many conversations. I heard so many stories, of romance, of machinery and of livestock. I will share one with you:

A lady who had chickens told me a delightful story about her chickens. She also had Kinda hens as I do and as were on display at the farm. One day she saw one hen gathering all the other hens and they seemed to have some kind of discussion. There was much chatter and clucking. Then she decided to take a walk and all the other hen followed in line behind her. She led them all to her newly laid egg. There they all circled the egg and just looked at it. What a proud mother she was !

It was a wonderful weekend!

An Afternoon with Maria!

Max joined us as we visited the farm of Maria. Maria is a charming young woman that I met at the seasons first craft market. We had so many things in common that we chatted as if we were long lost sisters or friends. This is not something that happens everyday, so when life brings you a special friend like Maria, you recognize it and enjoy the experience.

We had such a joyful  time at her farm viewing and getting to know her many animals. She has beautiful Swedish goats that at this moment have the cutest little curly white babies. She breeds and sells some of Sweden’s endangered species of chickens, ducks and rabbits. She also breeds turkeys and has the most beautiful, colorful and majestic male turkey named King.

We had a lovely time chatting over cup of coffee, tea and a Finnish cake that she baked for our arrival to her farm. It was a delightful visit. We will be back often as we enjoy each other’s company and animals. Maria has seen much of Gullringstorp on my blog and Facebook but has not yet visited us. She will us very visit soon.

Of all her animals, the ones of most interest to me above all the others, were her beautiful rescue greyhounds. We are planning to adopt a rescue greyhound from Ireland and meeting Maria was just such a wonderful ting to have happen. Her dogs have come from a wonderful rescue center in Ireland and I will use the same company when we are ready to adopt.

We spent a splendid day with Maria and her animals. It was a great opportunity for myself to enjoy and  become reacquainted with  greyhounds and for my husband to meet them for the first time and understand the yearning I have had to adopt one. It was very important to see if our little dog Max could be around these large animals. He was just fine! They enjoyed them and he enjoyed them. No we know that ill not be an issue. We must make sure that the one that we adopt  is ok with small dogs and cats. Maria’s dogs love her small Jack Russell terrier and are just fine with her two cats. With our small Brussels Griffon and 4 indoor cats, we will have to wait to find a greyhound that has been seen to be well with both for our home.

We spent such a lovley time at Maria’s farm and are very much looking forward to returning.
