Another Gullringstorp Goats and Li’l Sis Goat Milk Soap Tour
This morning we had 12 lively Mini Scouts come to Gullringstorp for a Tour. They were ages 7 -10 years old. We prepared our two workshops for both Tour sites. One side was just for the goats where the children learned all about what it means to have and take care of goats. They each told what pets they have, most of which were cats. They understood when we spoke about preventing sickness and treating sickness.
The food display was fun because I held up each one they told me what it was. There were buckets of hay and straw, bowls of all three grains and then a bowl with the grains blended together. We had a huge branch with lots of green leaves on it to show what we sometimes give the goats inside and outside. We also had a branch that had been thoroughly enjoyed with no leaves left and no bark left.
The children were very patient with me because they could hear the goats in the stable. But before they saw the goats there was a game to play. I wear stable pants with many pockets and the game was to guess what I might have in all my pockets. Oh the kids really had to think and use their imaginations. It was so much fun. Some of the adults wanted in on this game as well.
What was in my pockets?
- Filter mask
- One glove to use when picking greens so as not to get stung by nettles
- Three different brushes for the goats
- Emory boards for a quick splint if needed
- Paper towels
- Branch clippers
- Lipgloss, because I am a woman
- Pre moistened towelettes
Before they arrived we prepared the enclosure as usual but we added this morning , beautiful branches for both the boys and girls. Leif chopped some very large branches so the children would be able to se how the goats enjoy them.
A warm thank you to all the Mini Scouts and their guides, for visiting Gullringstorp. You were a pleasure to have and you are most welcome back. Hope to see you next year.
