Happy Mother’s Day Little Miss Nanna !!!
My husband went to the stable at 7 pm last evening just to check on all the goats and lo and behold, Nanna had become a mother. He ran to the house to alert me. My heart was pounding with excitement! Wow, there was a new baby in our stable!! The tiny baby was clean and dry and up on it’s tiny hooves. We were not able to witness this birth or the labor. Nanna kept this , pretty much under wraps. She wanted to deliver in her own way with privacy and she was successful. We estimate the time of birth between 6 and 6:30 pm last evening. The little baby was dry and clean and so was the birthing area. Nanna had cleaned everything up.
I have to say it was so strange to look at my Little Miss Nanna and realized that an event had changed her, and had changed her forever. She was no longer the silly little girl who bounced about the stable and teased me when it was time to get back into her box. On our morning feed, I kissed her tummy as usual and said “hej little baby”. I rubbed her sides and her tummy as she munched away on her breakfast. She was hungry and had seconds. I didn’t object, after all she was eating for at least two. I was happy to fill her tray up with more grain.
Oh the sight of my Little Miss Nanna with her own new baby, brought tears to my eyes. The beauty of the baby, watching my silly girl now a mother, hearing all her chit-chat with her baby , I saw her in all her glory. This never gets old and each birth is a brand new experience.
It was difficult to leave and head back to the house. I was so full of emotions that I could have stayed there watch this new family all night. My husband was touched also by this beautiful scene. We were both so very proud of Little Miss Nanna. She was going to be such a good mother.
Just as we almost came to the front door, we saw we had visitor:
Welcome back for more updates on our newest little family.
