Little Lady & Friends
Little Lady our lovely iguana loves to have company in her house and to visit friends when she is out and about. She is one happy iguana with all her friends.
All the goats are just fine. Our babies who were born in August are growing like little weeds and our newest babies, Iris, Ivy and Petunia are really happy here at Gullringstorp and are quickly making friends and learning who the bosses are.
We have successfully bred, Keriana, Alika and Nanna. They were all three bred in December, but sometimes, the breeding doesn’t actually take and you will know when your doe comes back into heat. We have held our breath that these young ladies do not come back into heat.
As of this month, February, our young ladies have not come back into heat. With the very cold temperatures and wind, our herd stays in during the winter. Everyone gets time to play and run throughout the stable, every day. Because we feel they have been bred, they are off grain, temporarily, which makes it quite tricky to fill grain bowls at dinner time without these 3 sneaking into a box and gobble up grain. These 3 young ladies will have grain in March. They will get their portion of grain twice a day while standing on the milking stand. See, there is a method to my ways; they will get used to the stand, learn that this is where they will get their grain rations and at the same time become used to being there and having their udder touched. This means that when they deliver, they will hopefully be used to the stand and not be afraid of it. They will , hopefully, be happy to jump up and get breakfast and dinner and allow me to milk them. At least, that’s my plan.
We will start maternity watch next month when they really start to show.
Make sure you check back to see how our young ladies are doing!
